Canalys: Samsung was top smartphone vendor in Q2 with 80 million shipments

In its most recent report, statistical surveying firm Canalys has uncovered that Samsung was the top cell phone seller on the planet last quarter with an aggregate shipment of 80 million units.

"The achievement of the Galaxy S7 together with a de-accentuation on the low end of its portfolio has prompted an ascent in handset ASP," said Canalys Senior Analyst Tim Coulling. "Samsung's VR move has demonstrated a savvy one, with Gear VR groups boosting leader handset deals."

The South Korean organization was trailed by Apple, which figured out how to ship 40 million iPhones last quarter (40.4 million to be exact). "The dispatch of the iPhone SE has done little to enhance Apple's fortunes," said another Canalys examiner.

The third spot was guaranteed by China's Huawei with a shipment of 31 million units in the quarter. "Huawei has had an incredible begin to 2016, with its administration position in China helping the worldwide picture," said Coulling. "Regardless of this solid begin, it should keep breaking shipment records and enhance its position in the US in the event that it is to surpass its yearly shipment focus of 140 million units."
